#23 Martini's, synth pop, indie magazines, and Gossip Girl.
plus sweatpants and various glassware.
I hope this email finds you hydrated.
Number 23! Some may call it……………...my Jordan newsletter. It’s also the namesake of this newsletter. It’s also an age I am not super fond of, because it feels like a weird in-between. Oh, and I’ll always associate it with the pandemic. Duh.
🎵
Thanks to friend + subscriber Tori for showing me this 80s/90s Slovenian synth pop group. It’s all I’ve been listening to lately ✨
donate!
If you’re new here, hi! Every month I collect donations for a charity/org. I started this as a small step towards keeping myself and others accountable in fighting injustice every day, past the height of the protests and social reckoning over the summer. Until the end of February, I’ll be collecting donations for Bed-Stuy Strong, a mutual aid network of neighbors helping neighbors in solidarity.
“One hundred percent of donations to Bed-Stuy Strong are used to purchase groceries and basic supplies for vulnerable neighbors. Households then receive what they need from our network of delivery volunteers – ordinary Bed-Stuy residents who are looking to help members of their community.”
You can read more about them here and follow them on Instagram at @bedstuystrong!
Venmo me at @elisebang (email me if you prefer a different method) and at the end of every month, I’ll match up to $50. You have until the end of February! Thank youuuuu

these wine glasses that stack in a very satisfying way
Gossip Girl!!! Yes, I’ve never seen it in my entire life until this year (NO SPOILERS I’M ONLY ON SEASON 2). I don’t even know where to begin… I’m obsessed with every aspect of this show. I watch it every night before I go to bed. The soundtrack is hilarious and perfect. I’ve ordered a plaid skirt.

Stack Magazines! For $15 a month, you get sent a new independent magazine every month! Think Apartamento, Cereal, and Racquet. Some fancy indie mags can cost way more than $15, so this is a goooood deaaaaal.
this print that is a smiling drink :)
Ok this one…….I link dived SO far, I don’t even know how I got here. Yokkoyama Hat Market is a custom hat store (I think?????) in LES/Chinatown. BUT THEIR MERCH IS AMAZING??? What even is this store? Who designs the merch? I just have so many questions…

What the Hole Is Going On? The very real, totally bizarre bucatini shortage of 2020. Grub Street
If you saw my tweet about this last month, you know that I haven’t been able to find bucatini noodles ANYWHERE for ~4 months. I truly thought I was going crazy until I read this article, which does a deep (and hilarious) investigative dive on The Great Bucatini shortage. Update: I found it at Wegman’s and InstaCarted 3 boxes of it.
Jenna Lyons’s J. Crew Afterlife The New Yorker
I love Jenna Lyons. She is so authentic and sweet in interviews, I love how she dresses, and I will always have positive feelings towards J. Crew because it is like 60% of my mom’s wardrobe.
this made me laugh!
same time next week?
As always, thanks for reading ❤️ I can’t wait for you all to see who I interview in 2021! If there is anyone/anything you have in mind, reply to this email, Tweet me, or DM me on Instagram.
Talk to you next week! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
