#24 perfect lighting and pink produce with Louisiana Mei Gelpi / @regular_meals
plus a cute bowl of Cheerios????
How was everyone’s snow day?
In addition to my weekly recommendations and musings, I like to highlight the cool people and cool things I find from my favorite corners of the internet ✨
You’ve probably seen Louisiana’s photos grace the pages of the coolest fashion publications and brands………..…but you haven’t seen it all until you’ve seen Louisiana’s account @regular_meals.
I didn’t know a bowl of Cheerios could look CUTE.
Louisiana Mei Gelpi / @regular_meals
Hello! What is @regular_meals?
@regular_meals is my food Instagram where I post meals I cook and food I eat!
How did the idea for @regular_meals come about?
I was working freelance at Ganni and was going through an old Instagram account I had saved and saw that I had a few good pictures of food on there from years before. I decided to turn it into a food diary for myself to post all the regular things I eat.
The @regular_meals account has a really pleasing look. What do you think about when you're snapping a pic?
Thank you! I like to take pretty minimal still lifes for my photography work, so I think that automatically translated to pictures of my food. I just try to make sure there is good (or good enough..) lighting/shoot in the day.
Tell me about yourself! What do you do outside of @regular_meals?
I’m from Singapore, but I currently live in Brooklyn. I have a full time job as a visual editor at Teen Vogue, but I also love photographing still lifes on the side. I loved baking when I was younger, but only got into cooking two years ago. I’ve always loved eating good food though.
What are your personal passions/interests?
I love baking, hiking, rollerskating...pretty all over the place, which is just how I like it. I want to get into knitting!
What is inspiring you right now? Both in food and in art/photography :)
I love looking at cakes right now! Hopefully I’ll make better cakes and maybe try my hand at patisserie this year. This season’s produce (pink radicchio! lucy glo apples!) has really been helping me be more creative because it’s all so pretty, and I want to photograph them for memory!! Other than that, I hate to admit that I haven’t been thinking about art/photography that much. I actually don’t think about it that much, is that surprising? I feel like I have so many other things running through my mind that art gets pushed to the back.
Any hopes or goals for @regular_meals (or just yourself!)? :)
I don’t have any huge goals for @regular_meals at the moment. I still feel like it’s my diary, and I don’t want it to feel too much like work, because that’s when I start to despise it. Although maybe I’d make some merch? Seems silly, but I do love wearing graphic tees, so I would love to make something along those lines. My personal goal is boring, but I’m trying to save more money to take more trips in 2022! Gotta make up for lost time 🥴
I love her!!! Once MR always MR :)
